Structured light generated by diffractive optical element Structured light is widely used for obtaining 3D depth imagery by projecting a known pattern on to a scene. Specific applications include tracking a moving object, motion sensing, gesture recognition, 3D sensing and mapping, etc. Famous examples include the Radiohead's breakthrough cameraless music video "House of Cards" and Microsoft's Kinect system. Recently Wuxi OptonTech Ltd is proud to introduce new diffractive optical elements (DOEs) which can produce highly compatible, high-performance structured light. The following picture shows the image of the actual structured light produced by our designed and fabricated DOE. The image was taken with a point-and shoot camera. It can be seen that the zero-order has been suppressed to a very low level. Also there are no ghost spots between the desired signal spots, and none of any adjacent spots are sticking together.
