Structured light diffractive optical elements without requiring collimation for 3D sensors

DOEs without requiring collimation can be utilized directly for spherical wave emitted by laser diodes, eliminating collimation lenses in the optical path. Consequently the size and the cost of laser modules can be significantly reduced. It is very suitable for the applications where smallness is important such as mobile phones.（http://www.edphoton.com ）

Currently the DOEs can be used for point-emitting lasers only, and cannot be used for surface-emitting lasers, e.g. VCSEL yet. However, the applications may be extended to VCSEL in the near future.（http://www.edphoton.com ）
